BRETON USA, Sarasota, Fla., introduces MiterWave technology from Breton S.p.A. of Castello di Godego, Italy, for accurate 45° cutting of materials for smooth and clean miter joints. The technology, when integrated with waterjet/saws such as the company’s Combi-Cut DJ/NC 550, can provide greater ease in dealing with non-planar surfaces, such as a growing number of large-format porcelain slabs.

Using a laser probe in a pre-cut run, the technology automatically senses and calculates variables such as ambient and machine temperatures, as well as any variations in the stone surface, correcting them in real time.

The waterjet can then cut at a constant 45° angle with production software using the MiterWave data to adjust points of entry and the path of the waterjet head.
